Building Name: St. Catherine of Siena

City: Portage

Window Shape: 2 (rectangle)

Subject/Title of Window: South Window

Brief Description of Subject: The South Stained window depicts one of the oldest icons of the Church. The Risen Christ is returning to us through the gate of death. Reaching out to Adam and Eve, He calls them to join Him in his resurrection. They represent humanity being offered new life through Christ’s Paschal Mystery. The dark red on the lower portion of the window represents the center of the earth while the dark blue symbolizes the cosmos. Creation itself is being united in His resurrection. The trees depict the primal garden and in the background the hands of the earth are opened up to receive the new Lord.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
