Brief Description of Subject: Description: Window is one of 7 in Chancel of the most important Polish saints. The windows are designed to let in lots of light. In the canopy on a shield contains the picture of a pelican feeding its young. Legend had it that when baby pelicans are starving the mother would feed the babies her own blood to survive -- hence symbolizes Christ shedding his blood to save us. St. Hedwig of Silesia is seen with her attributes. She is dressed as a Cistercian nun holding a model of a monastery. The monastery is the one she had built at Trzebnica and when she was widowed she lived out her life there. There is a crown at her feet which might be being used to show she was a baroness.
