Subject/Title of Window: Suffer the Children

Brief Description of Subject: Description: The top quatrefoil contains palm fronds that form an X shape ( Greek letter  "Chi")  and the Greek letter "Rho" (shaped like a "P") together they are the first two letters of the Greek spelling of "Christ". The scene is called "Suffer the Children" so named from the King James Version of Matt 19:14 "Jesus said "Let the children come to me .... for the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."  In the archaic English of the KJV "Let the children" is "Suffer the children". In the picture Jesus is seen with four children -- nice placement of the children as your eyes are directed to Christ". In bottom quatrefoil is the Greek letters "Alpha" and "Omega" from Rev: 22:13 God said "I am the Alpha and the Omega". "Alpha" is the first letter of the Greek alphabet and "Omega" is the last -- hence "I am the beginning and the end".

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
