Subject/Title of Window: Margaret Alacoque Messenger of the Sacred Heart

Brief Description of Subject: Description: Quatrefoil at the top contains the Crown of Thorns with a kingly crown above it. Below is a picture of a kneeling Margaret Alacoque  with a vision of Christ, who is costumed in royal purple and red (human with stigmata), and has His Sacred Heart exposed. Margaret is costumed as a nun of the Order of Visitation. It looks as though the scene takes place in a chapel with Divine light shining down through an oculus, cross, book and candle on an altar. Quatrefoil at bottom contains the Sacred Heart of Jesus inscribed with the word "Charite". The heart is circumscribed with the crown of thorns, flame on top symbolizes the Love Jesus has for us, the drops of blood --the blood he shed for us. The Order of the Visitation had a monastery in La Charite on the Loire River in France and was involved with the relics of Margaret Alacoque but since it is also the French word for "charity" it could have some other significance.

Background: Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque (1647 - 1690) was a nun of the Order of the Visitation of Mary. Through her, Jesus is said to have revealed twelve benefits of a devotion to His Sacred Heart. Since that time a devotion to the Sacred Heart has spread around the World.
