Building Name: Christ Church DetroitCity: Detroit
Window Shape: 2 (rectangle)
Date of Window: 1881
Subject/Title of Window: Anchor and Bible
Brief Description of Subject: This window is in an area that once was the transept of the chapel, however with the alterations of 1903 the area was not suitable for a chapel. It is now used as the sacristy. At some point a ceiling was added to provide a room above the sacristy, thus only the lower portion of the window is visible from the sacristy. The photograph only shows this lower part.
The roundels are separated by ornamental quatrefoils featuring fleurs-de-lis. The higher roundel depicts an "anchor cross" --- symbolizing the hope of eternal life through Christ. The lower roundel depicts a book with the inscription "HOLY BIBLE"; the writing under the "Holy Bible" is illegible.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.
All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
