Brief Description of Subject: This three lancet window is located in the Epistle side transept. At some point this area became the "St. Elizabeth and St. Eunice's Chapel."
The figure in the left lancet is St. Eunice, the mother of Timothy. She was a convert to Christianity from Judaism. Timothy would join St. Paul on many missionary trips. The inscription under Eunice, "Unfeigned Faith," is found in beginning of the second letter of Paul to Timothy:
"To Timothy, my dearly beloved son ... Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of the tears, that I may be filled with joy; When I call to remembrance the UNFEIGNED FAITH that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother EUNICE; and I am persuaded that in thee also." (KJV)
The middle lancet pictures the "Angel of Praise" with a lute. "Praise the Lord ... Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp." Psalm 150: 1 - 3 ESV
The right lancet features St. Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist. The inscription under Elizabeth, "Righteous Before God," comes from the start of Luke's Gospel which will foretell the birth of John the Baptist.
"There was in the days of Herod ... a certain priest named Zacharias ... and his wife ... her name was Elizabeth. And they were both RIGHTEOUS BEFORE GOD."

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.
All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
