Brief Description of Subject: This is the fourth of four aisle windows that use material from the Old Testament.

The left lancet picture is named "Shield of David", in Hebrew, "Magen David." It is formed from two interwoven equilateral triangles. In Psalm 28:7, David will declare that "The Lord is my shield". Because of its shape, it can also be called the "Star of David."

The right lancet picture is named "The Calling of Isaiah," which is recorded in Isaiah 6:1 - 14. Seen is a scroll and a pair of tongs holding a  live coal. The scroll is a symbol for a prophet. The tongs with a live coal comes from Verse 6, "Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar."

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
