Subject/Title of Window: The Baptism of Jesus

Brief Description of Subject: "In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens opened and the Spirit descending upon him like a dove; and a voice came from heaven, 'Thou are my beloved Son, with thee I am well pleased.'" Mark 1

Jesus stands in the water. His hands are clasped in prayer. Saint John pours the baptismal water upon the head of Jesus. The dove, representing the Holy Spirit, is descending from heaven. A stream of light falls upon Jesus.

The ripple of water, the flowers, shrubs and the rusches edging the river make the lower portion of this window a distinctive study in design.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
