Brief Description of Subject: The tympanum, of this west entrance door, features David the Shepherd Boy, writer of many Psalms (songs), playing his harp while his sheep are resting. To his right is illustrated Psalm 23:2, "He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters."

The door contains medallions depicting verses from Psalms. All quotes from NIV

Psalm 1:3 --- "He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither."

Psalm 9:7 --- "The Lord reigns forever; he has established his throne for judgement."

Psalm 19: 1, 6 --- "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands ... (The sun) rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is hidden from its heat." The Hebrew letter at the top of the medallion is "Yod" --- the symbol for the name of God in the Old Testament, as it is the first letter in the word "YHWH," Yahweh in English.

Psalm 34.4 --- "I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all fears."

Psalm 46:9 - 10 --- "He makes war cease to the ends of the earth; he breaks the bow, and he shatters the spear, he burns the shield in fire. Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

Psalm 51:10 --- "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me."

Psalm 98:5 - 6 --- "Make music to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram's horn --- shout for joy before the Lord, the King."

Psalm 103:2 --- "Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits." The Hebrew letter at the top of the medallion is "Yod" --- the symbol for the name of God in the Old Testament, as it is the first letter in the word "YHWH," (Yahweh in English).

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
