Subject/Title of Window: Sesquicentennial of West Side United Methodist Church

Brief Description of Subject: Dedication of Window Oct. 20, 1996. This was one of many acts of the Sesquicentennial year long celebration. Symbolism of the Stained Glass Window: The window is composed of three circles within a circle. The outside circle represents unity and wholeness. The three inside circles have three meanings. They represent the Trinity, the three periods of fifty years totaling 150 years and the three buildings our church has occupied since its beginning. The flower is a symbol of growth. The founding date of 1847 and the present date of 1997 can be seen in the window. If you look closely you will note an outer circle encompassing each of the three inner circles. This has traditionally been a symbol of God’s grace emanating from the objects it surrounds. In the case of our new window, each of these three circles represent our church’s life.
