Subject/Title of Window: Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman

Brief Description of Subject: The Octofoil at the top has an angel carrying a banner with the inscription which alludes to the scene below. The scene is from Luke 7: 36 - 50. Synopsis. A Pharisee invited Jesus for dinner. When a sinful woman heard of this she came to the dinner with an alabaster jar of perfume and wet Jesus's feet with her tears wiping them with her hair, kissed his feet, and poured the perfume on them. The Pharisee said to himself "A prophet would know she is a sinner." Jesus answered him with a question -- Suppose two men owed money to a moneylender, one owed very little and the other a tidy sum; neither had money to repay him so the moneylender forgave them their debts. Which would love him more? Simon answered the one who owed a lot. Jesus responded that he was correct. He then told him "I came to your house and you didn't give me water for my feet, you didn't kiss my feet or pour perfume on them. Therefore I tell you her many sins are forgiven for she loved much. But he has been forgiven little loves little." Then Jesus said to her "YOUR SINS ARE FORGIVEN." The other guests were aghast, "Who is this who even forgives sins." Jesus said to the woman "Your faith has saved you, go in peace."

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
