Subject/Title of Window: Saint Barbara

Brief Description of Subject: The two vertical halves of the window are separated by a stone mullion approximately 5” wide. Right side: the Saint Barbara figure’ left side: primarily ornamental, but 3 small figures are integrated into the design, one a woman holding a tower. The other two seem to represent medieval figures in armor. According to legend, Saint Barbara’s father opposed her marriage and so imprisoned her in a tower, where she was converted to Christianity. Upon learning this, her father ordered her beheaded. The legend of Saint Barbara is set in the time of the emperor Maximian --- c.300 AD.

The maker of this window has signed and dated it near the bottom right.
