Subject/Title of Window: Sacrifice

Brief Description of Subject: One in a set of three windows located on the west wall of chancel. Sacrifice depicts a lamb on an alter, with a flame rising from it. Most windows in the Alumni Memorial Chapel are sets of three on the same general topic with the same donor. This window is grouped with Adoration (R1a) and Thanksgiving (R1c). The Altar of burnt offering, shown at the bottom, is the most primitive from and the Cross of Christianity is the highest form of Sacrifice. The Cross represents the symbolic and the altar the material sacrificial act. The lamb is the symbol of Christ but also the symbol of Sacrifice in the Old Testament and other religions.
