Brief Description of Subject: One in a set of three windows located on the east side of chancel. Self denial depicts a man rejecting food and drink while restraining a snake. This is the serpent from the Garden of Eden which tempted the first man and woman to disobey God. This symbolizes self-control and the abstinence from physical pleasures. Most windows in the Alumni Memorial Chapel are sets of three on the same general topic with the same donor. This window is grouped with Prayer (L1a) and Charity (L1c). Designed by Anthony Mako.
