Brief Description of Subject: The theme is based on a biblical text in which Jesus is quoted as saying, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock." Various artists have painted the scene, including 19th-century English artist William Holman Hunt, whose popular painting, "The Light of the World," probably inspired this interpretation in stained glass.
