Subject/Title of Window: The Sower

Brief Description of Subject: In the center is Christ’s parable of the Sower and the Seed. The Seed of the Spirit of Christ is shown falling upon the roadside, among the thorns, upon the stony places and at the side the seed is falling upon the fertile ground where it may produce fruit. To the right is a figure symbolic of the Christian nations offering the light of progress to all peoples with cherubim in the foreground bearing swords into plow shares. In the next panel on the left is the church giving the teachings of Christ to the Disciples to sow throughout the world. Next to this panel is the Family with the parent eager to receive the word of God and pass it on to the children and the younger disciple ready to depart in a boat to carry it to other lands. In the bottom right hand corner lurks the devil.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
