Subject/Title of Window: The Nativity
Brief Description of Subject: The eighteenth-century hymns of Charles and John Wesley, founders of the Methodist Church, were chosen as the unifying theme of the windows, a theme that also reflects the congregation's great interest in music. This is one of six windows on the right side of the sanctuary, based on the New Testament. The Nativity window is based on the Book of Luke. The square window designs appear to "float" in surrounding colorless glass, which allows views of the out-of-doors. The Nativity window features the infant Jesus surrounded by angels with the guiding Christmas star overhead. It too is based on lines from Charles Wesley's Hymn 88: "Let all the angel throng give thanks to God on high/while earth repeats the joyful song and echoes to the sky."

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.
All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
