Brief Description of Subject: As related in the Book of Acts, this event occurred during the Jewish season of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descended like “tongues of fire” upon the Apostles as they gathered for prayer, enabling them to speak in various languages. Depictions of the Pentecost scene often include Mary, mother of Jesus, at the very center of the group (Acts 2: 1-43).

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.
All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
