Subject/Title of Window: St. Luke

Brief Description of Subject: Background: Luke was one of the four Evangelists, a doctor by trade. Legend has him painting a picture of the Virgin Mary with the baby Jesus. There are 3 different stories about his death. Natural death, hanged in an olive tree, and killed by Nero. The Nero story -- he was brought before Nero and he had Luke's right hand cut off; Luke then reattached his hand and then separated it again; Nero then had him killed as a sorcerer.

Description of window: Luke is shown with a quill pen and a closed book which symbolize his gospel writing. I believe under the book you see an image of his right hand detached from his body (it mirrors his hand with the quill) --- a reference to the scene with Nero. At this time I do not know what is pictured on his right thigh -- possibly connected with being a doctor.
