St. Michael Catholic Church Window
Building: St. Michael Church
City: New Lothrop
State: Michigan
This window features a scene frequently included in stained glass iconography. Based on the story in the biblical Book of Luke, it depicts the twelve-year-old boy Jesus conversing with teachers in the Temple at Jerusalem. His parents Mary and Joseph, who had come to Jerusalem for the Passover season, have been searching for Jesus for their return journey to Nazareth. In this scene they enter the Temple to find him discussing theological matters with the amazed scholars.
St. Michael Catholic Church was completed in 1921. Most of its twenty-two figural windows were installed when the church was constructed. Their maker has not yet been identified.
St. Michael Catholic Church of New Lothrop was registered in the Michigan Stained Glass Census by Ruthann Hemgesberg of New Lothrop.
