Bethlehem Lutheran Church
Building: Bethlehem Lutheran Church
City: Grand Rapids
State: Michigan
This window at Bethlehem Lutheran Church depicts a heavenly angel announcing the birth of Jesus at Bethlehem to shepherds who are tending their sheep in nearby hills. The scene is based on the Christmas story as related in the biblical book of Luke. Sixteen feet high and seven feet wide, the opalescent window was created by an unidentified maker and installed in 1932 when the church was constructed. It was given as a memorial to Gustaf and Christina Johnson.
Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Grand Rapids was registered in the Michigan Stained Glass Census by John O. Lockwood of Grand Rapids.
