Window
Building Name: St. Mary Catholic ChurchCity: Royal Oak
Window Shape: 4 (rounded or rose window)
Subject/Title of Window: Rose Window
Brief Description of Subject: This decorative rose window is located on the facade. Visually one is looking at an eight petalled flower whose center is an eight spoked wheel. In the tracery, spokes radiating from the central hub form a wheel. The image of an eight spoked wheel is found on early Christian tombs. The Greek word for "fish" is "IXOYE" --- Iota Chi Theta Upsilon Sigma. These capital Greek letters can be traced on an eight spoked wheel. Thus an eight spoked wheel contains the letters for the acronym, based on Greek words, for "Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior."

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.
All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
