Building Notes: The parish was founded in 1842 and is the first Roman Catholic Community in Oakland County. In 1953, Fr. George Cairns, Pastor, built the present St. Mary's Catholic Church. Under the artistic design and direction of Arthur Des Rosiers, the Church was brought to creation. The style of the architecture is Romanesque with its rounded arches of simple grace and dignity. The structure is made of shot-sawed Indiana limestone laid in random ashlar coursing. The roof is black slate with heavy copper eaves and downspouts. The steeple is constructed of copper, trimmed with stainless steel and topped by a beautiful steel cross.
