Subject/Title of Window: Alpha and Omega

Brief Description of Subject: These windows in the apse of the Perpetual Chapel were designed by Kirk Thompson III.

Together the Greek letters seen here symbolize Jesus Christ. This comes from Rev.22:13 where Jesus says "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." The New Testament was written in Greek so that the earliest symbols were from the Greek language. "Alpha" is the first letter of the Greek alphabet and "Omega" is the last letter of that alphabet --- thus all three phrases spoken by Jesus in Rev.22:13 are expressing the same idea.

The first pastor of Divine Child, Monsignor Weier, began a collection of relics of Saints. Reliquaries can be seen on the edges and shelves of these windows.
