Subject/Title of Window: The Lord's Prayer

Brief Description of Subject: This window is located in the corridor leading from the narthex and includes all of the words from "The Lord's Prayer" aka "The Our Father."

The scene pictures Luke 11:2 "One day, Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, 'LORD TEACH US TO PRAY, '" (NIV). What Jesus then taught them is called the "Lord's Prayer." This window uses Matthew's version of the prayer rather than Luke's shorter version. Inscribed is every verse of the prayer, Matthew 6:9 - 13. Some of the verses are accompanied by illustrations.

The Lord's Prayer:
Verse 9. "Our Father, which art in heaven hallowed be thy name,"
Illustrated with right hand of the Father in clouds (heaven)."
Verse 10: "thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven."
Illustrated with crown for king, five pointed star (Christ incarnate), and dove with olive branch.
Verse 11: "Give us this day our daily bread."
Fishes, cup, and bread
Verse 12. Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those that trespass against us."
Verse 12. "And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil."
Illustrated with a temptress's hand pointing to the word "temptation," devil being thrown down into fire.

Under Christ's feet is pictured a river leading to the city of God --- Psalm 46:4, "There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy dwelling place where the Most High resides," NIV. The entrance to the river is through a door surrounded by the Crown of Thorns (Jesus). Overall this scene depicts Jesus' words as recorded in John 14:6, "I am the way and the truth and the life: No one comes to the Father except through me," NIV.

The predella contains the memorial inscription bracketed by oil lamps (symbol for guidance). Also seen is the maker's signature, "Willet Studio Philadelphia PA ---- 1961."
