Subject/Title of Window: Three Churches

Brief Description of Subject: From "The Life of St. Paul," booklet.
Two aspects of Paul's story are parallel here. It will be seen that the color scheme alternates panels of warm and cool colors. The reds and golds symbolize the love, the glory and power of God. The panels in these hues portray the temporal life of Paul as he lived it on earth and as described in the Book of Acts. Those openings in cool greens, blues and purples with very little nuance or contrast express the hope and salvation of manking, and symbolize the spiritual life of St. Paul illustrating symbolically some of his words largely from his Epistles.

The ninth window on the right side of the church: This panel contains pictures of three churches which are of various architectural forms. These may be interpreted as the churches at Philippi, Colossae, and Thessalonica to which he wrote some of his Epistles for their guidance. "Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all the saints in Christ Jesus, who are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons: 'Grace to you and Peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ'" (Phillippians 1:1-2). "Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, to the saints and faithful brethren in Christ at Colossae: 'Grace to you and peace from God our Father'" (Colossians 1:1-2). "Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: 'Grace to you and peace'" (Thessalonians 1:1).

This window was given to the glory of God by Mr. and Mrs. William Laesch in honor of their children, Evelyn and Hilton Farley, Lois and Thomas Quinsey, Arlene Laesch and granddaughter Nancy.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
