Subject/Title of Window: Descending Dove

Brief Description of Subject: The Holy Spirit is represented as a dove, as, in the story of Jesus' baptism of the Holy Spirit "descended like a dove." (Mark 1:10) The descending dove is associated with the celebration of Pentecost, the birthday of the Church, where the Spirit of God came upon the Christian community like the rush of a might wind and "they were all filled with the Holy Spirit." (Acts 2:4) The nimbus or halo at the dove's head signifies His purity of purpose.

Contributors to the cost of the windows include Henricka Beach, Mr. and Mrs. Herm Deal, Athalia M. Demski, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Elliot, Mrs. Leonard Goodsell, Dr. and Mrs. Hans Gygi, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Sherman, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Tomkins and Mr. and Mrs. Marniv VanEyck.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
