Subject/Title of Window: Butterfly

Brief Description of Subject: Emerging from its cocoon with a glorified body able to soar into the heavens, the butterfly symbolizes resurrection and eternal life. This suggests a parallel to our own life: the larva is a metaphor for the lowly condition of people on earth; the chrysalis represents a body in the grave; and the butterfly is symbolic of the glorified body destined for eternal life in Christ. We recall Paul's words: "Lo, I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall be changed..." (I Corinthians 15:51ff)

Contributors to the cost of the windows include Henricka Beach, Mr. and Mrs. Herm Deal, Athalia M. Demski, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Elliot, Mrs. Leonard Goodsell, Dr. and Mrs. Hans Gygi, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Sherman, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Tomkins and Mr. and Mrs. Marniv VanEyck.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
