About

Date Built: 1942

Architect: Harley and Ellington

Architect’s City: Detroit

Date of Alterations: 1958

Building Notes: The three story mausoleum is located in Woodlawn Cemetery. The top story is much smaller than the others. Windows will be identified by the floor they are on. An addition was made about 15 years after the original building. It is a simple rectangle connected by a passageway to the original 1942 building. There is no stained glass in the addition.

Building description by the architect Alvin E Harley:
"The building is based on tradition with very modern interpretations. The main halls are in marble, quite formal, plain and severe, while most private rooms are to be furnished with wood paneling, quite intimate, simple moldings."
